Our Staff reporter BAHAWALPUR - Former Prime Minister and PML-Q Chief Ch Shujat Hussain has assured that his party will support and honour the public will and demand for the restoration of Bahawalpur provincial status. We will acknowledge the demand and fully favour it as more provinces are the need of the hour to strengthen the federation and end sense of deprivation among the masses. Ch Shujaat was talking to reporters during a visit to Bahawalpur to offer condolence to former provincial minister and Bahawalpur district nazim Ch Tariq Bashir Cheema over the death his mother. Referring to PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharifs recent statement regarding restoration of the former Bahawalpur princely state instead of provincial status, the PML-Q chief questioned that then why not his brother Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif announces it? He remarked that the letter issue of Hussain Haqqani seemed baseless and aimed at creating tension and controversies as President Asif Zardari was not a child who would use others for correspondence. He expressed doubt about the veracity of the memo. The veteran politician ruled out possibility of mid-term election, saying that the government would complete its tenure and next elections would be held on its time. To a question about energy crisis, he said that his party had submitted tangible proposal to overcome the energy crisis, adding that if these proposal were followed this crippling problem would be resolved soon. To another query, he replied that a commission had been formed which would assess and determine assets of politicians and that there was no need to hide anything in this regard. About defections from PML-Q, Ch Shujaat said that everyone was free and had choice whom they consider best and if someone had quit the PML-Q, it would not affect the party as it was a strong party, adding that in politics everyone had the right to join or quit any party. About the next elections, the PML-Q chief commented that his would remain in coalition with the PPP and would contest the next elections according to seat-to-seat adjustment, adding that they had joined the government after consultation with party members and office-bearers and in the national interest. Moreover, he urged the public to take every decision in national interest and unrest in the country could only bring forth harm so all the political forces must prefer national cause. Earlier, Ch Shujaat visited the house former Bahawalpur district nazim Ch Tariq Bashir Cheema and offered his sympathies and condolence over the death of his mother.
