RAWALPINDI Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Persecutors in assassination case of former premier Benazir Bhutto (BB) on Saturday urged the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi Number 1 to hold hearing on daily basis, otherwise they would move the Supreme Court of Pakistan and urge it to take suo moto notice of the delay being made in the proceeding of the high profile case. FIA Prosecutors Chaudhry Azhar and Chaudhry Zulfiqar, in a fresh application, requested ATC No 1 Judge Shahid Raffique to try the accused of BB murder case day to day as the case had not be solved despite passage of four years. FIA Prosecutors, while opposing the pleas filed by two accused Sher Zaman and Rasheed Ahmed for eliminating the murder charges against them, argued before the court that the two accused had been indicted rightly by the court for assisting the murderers of BB and 24 other Jiyalas on December 27, 2007 at Liaquat Bagh. FIA Prosecutors also argued before the court that Rasheed Ahmed had already confessed that he got Rs 0.4 million from Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Baitullah Mehsood and paid to Bilal alias Saeed and Zakirullah, the alleged suicide bombers. They also stated before the court that a co-accused Aitzaz confessed before the court that he and Sher Zaman were part of the conspiracy hatched to kill BB. Speaking about the legality of their pleas, the FIA Prosecutors said the accused should go to high court against their indictment under section 302 as the trial court could not review its own decision. On this, ATC No 1 Judge Shahid Raffique postponed the hearing of BB murder case till November 22 for further arguments on the application. The court could not record the statements of the two prosecution witnesses in the absence of a defense lawyer.
