LAHORE Cantonment SP Investigation Ameen Bokhari is being misguided by his subordinates as some 20 land-grabbers have been trying to illegally occupy over 3 kanals land of a property dealer for the last several days. Although the high-ups of police department are fully aware of the case but an ASI (IO) Hanif is perpetually misguiding his seniors through various tactics. The ASI is trying to facilitate the land grabbers by saying the criminals are 'innocent in one way or the other. We have a mobile clip, in which despite the presence of police officers, accused party barged their entry into the plot-cum-residence and broken down the walls, a property dealer Raja Afzal Azeem expressed these views during a press conference at the Press Club on Saturday. He further said one Zain Shaukat, self-proclaimed candidate of PML-N MNA, and Saeed, former vice union nazim of PML-N, were patronising the accused party. We have several eyewitnesses of the incident, that above 20 grabbers have broken down the walls, violated family norms and even went on to abuse the family members besides intimidating them, Azeem further maintained. Raja Azeem, a resident of E-95, Phase-VIII, DHA said he purchased 28 kanal and 10 marlas of land in the Barki police precincts in the year 2003. He constructed four rooms and a swimming pool and after five years, one Riaz along with his accomplices former Union Nazim Saeed scuffled with him, he further added. I also won an ensuing court case but on October 15, 2011, Riaz again attempted to grab the land. On which I informed the Barki area DSP, who assured me of security cover. The accused, however, arrived and demolished the walls of my plot. On the other hand, the DSP did not take any action, Azeem said. After knowing about the incident, SP Hashmat Kamal directed the Barki DSP and the SHO to lodge an FIR against the accused and arrest them. Resultantly, seven accused including Riaz, Abdul Razzaq, Safdar Ali, Waqas Hassan, Muhammad Nazeer, Muhammad Shakeel and Muhammad Ashraf were arrested. The SP also deputed three cops near the property but their presence proved counterproductive as the accused persons secured their bail and attempted to grab the land on the same day. SI Ashraf even snubbed me to avoid calling the police, but when I asked him to take action against the land grabbers, he advised me to remain mum as the criminals were more in numbers, Azeem further revealed. He said the DIG Operations suspended SHO Inspector Azam Manhais on charges of his involvement with the land grabbers. Meanwhile, another FIR 664/11 was lodged against the same accused on same charges. Earlier, Azeem appealed to the Punjab Chief Minister and IGP to provide them justice by taking strict notice of the incident.
