OUR STAFF REPORTER SIALKOT - The district government, the Unicef and CSDO jointly organised an awareness seminar to commemorate the Universal Childrens Day 2011 in Sialkot and to mobilise people about child rights at Anwar Club here. Around 500 children, the officials of Unicef, CSDO, SCCI, government departments, NGOs, industrialists, teachers, parents, members of the community based child protection committees and representatives of media participated in the event. Besides, the children participated in various competitions including Hamad, Naat, patriotic songs, dramas, tableaus, speeches on the importance of education. The children performed sterling performances. A special dialogue among the students of Talim-ul-Amal Centres, business community and government officials was initiated which was very inspiring for the participants. During the dialogue, working and out-of-school children raised various questions to the employers and government officials for the protection of their rights. The government officials and employers while responding to the questions assured their full support to protect the child rights. Ijaz Ahmed, the Project Manager of the CSDO, told newsmen that the speakers delivered speeches on the importance of education and child rights. He also awarded prizes to the winning children.
