LAHORE –With both the PML-N and the PTI approaching Jamaat-e-Islami for support, the religio-political party has yet to take a final decision as it wanted a broad-based alliance of likeminded opposition parties for the upcoming general elections.
The JI secretary general said that the party was in contact with mainstream opposition parties to forge an alliance for general elections.
Talking to TheNation on Monday, he said that the JI was in contact both with the PML-N and the PTI and wanted an alliance of likeminded opposition parties as no political force could get desired results through solo flight.
Commenting on the desire shown by Nawaz Sharif that he wanted an alliance with the JI, Baloch said that the party was in contact with the PML-N and would take decision after evaluating all pros and cons including past experiences.
To a question that with which party the JI would prefer to form an alliance if the PML-N and PTI did not agree to sit together, he said that the decision would be taken after due consultation and in the larger interests of the JI and the nation.
