LAHORE – The gap between demand and supply of gas is expecting to cross 1,100 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD), around 50 per cent of total gas in the SNGPL’s network, in coming month and the company officials are seeing worst days ahead.
The domestic consumers in Punjab will face severe low pressure of gas while CNG and industrial sectors will face huge curtailment.
The SNGPL needs around 3,000MMCFD gas to meet the consumers’ demand but the gap is widening with every day passing. An official said that it was due to the government negligence which did nothing in past four and half years at the supply side.
“With over 1,000MMCFD shortfall of gas, Punjab is going to be the worst victim in coming two months especially,” said another official, adding it was mainly due to violation of approved policies committed by Ogra and the government.
