MOHMAND AGENCY - Five persons were injured when a female suicide bomber detonated her suicide jacket near the convoy of former Jamaat-e-Islami chief Qazi Hussain Ahmad in the Ghaiba Khwar area in Haleemzai tehsil of Mohmand Agency on Monday.Local sources said the blast occurred at 11:15am when the convoy of Qazi Hussain Ahmad, passing through the Haleemzai area, was on its way to Sultan Khail where the former JI chief was to address the party workers and administer oath to the agency’s new office bearers. The suicide bomber, wearing a veil, targeted the vehicle of Jamaat-e-Islami members, which was just behind the vehicle of Qazi Hussain Ahmad. As a result, five persons were injured. Qazi Hussain Ahmad, however, remained safe. The blast was high in intensity as it jolted the entire tehsil and its sound echoed across the area. The blast resulted in injuries to five persons, including workers of Jamaat-e-Islami. Former Jamaat-e-Islami chief Qazi Hussain, however, remained safe in the incident. Soon after the incident, the law-enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and started search operation. Ghalani Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Jehangir told The Nation that three injured persons, hailing from Peshawar, Swabi and Mohmand, were brought to the hospital; they were given initial treatment and were now in stable condition, he said.Qazi Hussain Ahmad did not postpone the programme and inaugurated the party office in Sultan Khail. Mohammad Agency Political Agent Adil Sadiq visited the venue and met with Qazi Hussain Ahmad to know about his health. Speaking on the occasion, Qazi Hussain strongly condemned the suicide bomb blast and said that anti-Islam and anti-Pakistan elements were involved in the attack. He said the United States, Israel and India were spoiling peace in the country. He urged the masses to support Jamaat-e-Islami in the upcoming elections. He also administered oath to Fazal Subhan as the agency ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami. Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti strongly condemned the suicide attack on former Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmad. He contacted Qazi Hussain Ahmad and enquired after him. Earlier, the chief minister also contacted Jamaat-e-Islami KPK Ameer Siraj-ul-Haq and expressed his grief over the losses of precious human lives. He also prayed for the early recovery of the injured persons.
