SHC issues notices to PTA, Telecom Ministry

KARACHI  - The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday issued notices to the Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA), Telecom Ministry and Deputy Attorney General on a petition pertaining to suspension of mobile phone service.The SHC, hearing a petition filed by a private cellular company, directed the relevant authorities to appear before the court on November 22.It has become a regular practice of the government to suspend mobile services in the country calling it a tactical move against militants who are using mobile phones as detonators in IEDs.The government had blocked the service on first Muharram, the Eidul Fitr, Eidul Azha and Youm-e-Ishq-e-Rasool (SAW) in a bid to keep any probable acts of terrorism.Meanwhile, Pakistan People’s Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the children were future of our nation and his party accords top priority to improve the facilities for children to groom them into responsible future generation and turn them into an asset for the country.In his message on the Universal Children’s Day on November 20 (today), he said that the People’s government, in line with the vision of Benazir Bhutto, launched a vigorous campaign to eradicate polio and Aseefa Bhutto Zardari was leading the campaign successfully despite some hurdles at the hands of some extremist elements. PPP chairman said, “The PPP is committed to the education of each and every child and the People’s government had recently passed legislation under which every child, regardless of sex, nationality or race, shall have a fundamental right to free and compulsory education in a neighbourhood school.” He said PPP is aware of lack of healthcare facilities for children, especially in rural areas of the country and added that responsibilities for providing health facilities have been devolved to provincial and district levels for bringing drastic improvements at local levels.He pledged that being the largest political party of Pakistan, the PPP will continue its struggle to provide the nation a safe, healthy, peaceful and egalitarian society in 21st century so that today’s children may feel proud for their past generation and form a model nation in the comity of world.
