KARACHI - Justice Faisal Arab, whose name has been forwarded by the Sindh High Court chief justice to be part of the special court to probe the treason case against former military dictator Pervez Musharraf, didn’t take oath under Musharraf’s emergency rule of November 3, 2007, and currently is the second most senior judge of Sindh High Court after Chief Justice Maqbool Baqr.
He was appointed as the Sindh High Court judge on September 25, 2005, and will retire on November 4, 2017.
He was enrolled as an advocate in 1990 as a lower court advocate. He was enrolled as the Sindh High Court and the Supreme Court advocate in 1992 and 2005, respectively.
After doing law graduation, he remained associated with former Supreme Court judge and ex-chief election commissioner, Fakhruddin G Ebrahim, from February 1989 to January 1990. He was employed as an associate advocate in law firm, Surridge & Bacheno, dealing with labour law cases from February 1990 to September 1990. Later, he again started working as an associate advocate at Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim & Company.
He worked in his law firm in the name of Faisal Arab & Associates from 2000 to 2005. Justice Faisal Arab worked as a standing counsel for the federation of Pakistan. Later, he was elevated as an additional judge of Sindh High Court on October 25, 2005. He was made a permanent judge of Sindh High Court on October 25, 2006.
Born on November 5, 1955, Justice Faisal Arab has the background of an agriculturist and owns a considerable agricultural land in Badin district of Sindh.
He did his graduation in Commerce in 1978 from Government College of Commerce and Economics, Karachi, and LLB in 1989 from Sindh Muslim Law College, Karachi. Justice Faisal did not take oath under Musharraf’s PCO on November 3, 2007. His elders had migrated from Saudi Arabia and carried the surname of Arab.
