LAHORE - Aman Attique will take on Muzamil Murtaza in the 1st Nayza Junior National Tennis Tournament U-18 final to be played today (Friday) here at the Bagh-e-Jinnah PLTA tennis courts.

In the boys’ first U-18 semifinal, Aman beat Hamaza bin Asif 6-3, 6-2 while Muzamil Murtaza defeated Barkatullah 6-3, 7-5 in the second semifinal. In the boys’ U-18 doubles, Muzamil and Hamaza defeated Aman and Talha Bin Asif 6-4, 7-6 to clinch the title. In U-14 semifinals, Shoaib Khan beat Ahmad Kamal 6-3, 6-1 to qualify for the final. In U-12 semifinals, Sami Zaib beat Hamza Roman 8-3 while in the second semifinal, Abdullah Adnan won against Abdul Hanan Khan 8-1. In U-10 first semifinal, Abdull Hanan beat Hamaza Roman 8-6.

Meanwhile, Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) president Anil Khanna along with Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) patron Senator Dilwar Abbas, Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA) secretary Rasheed Malik and Zahid Hussain of sponsors witnessed the semifinals of the Junior National Tennis Tournament at PLTA tennis courts.

PLTA secretary and former Davis Cupper Rasheed Malik thanked the ATF president Anil Khanna and PTF patron Senator Dilwar Abbas, who is also ATF senior vice present, for their visit to the PLTA and witnessing the talent of Punjab in action during the national junior tennis event.

RAFUM Group chairman Zahid Hussain, main sponsors of the event, said: “There is no dearth of talent in the country but what we really lack is less opportunities and full support to our youngsters. We want to give opportunity to players to learn, groom and excel in sports.

“We have initiated our efforts of promoting sports from sponsoring tennis and we have plans to support cricket and football as well and to some extent, basketball too. We will help the federations and associations bring forth talent and we’ll fully sponsor them and also make the top players our sports ambassadors,” he added.
