IMS launches Islamic Finance Centre

PESHAWAR : The Institute of Management Sciences officially inaugurated its Centre for Excellence in Islamic Finance to promote Islamic finance education, research, and best industry practices nationally and internationally.
The Centre is established through the financial innovation challenged fund implemented by the State Bank of Pakistan. On the occasion, Shamsul Qayyum, MD, The Bank of Khyber, inaugurated the CEIF IM-Sciences. Dr. Muhammad Mohsin Khan, Director IM-Sciences, welcomed the guests and briefed them about the role of institute in providing trained people to the industry. Dr. Karim Ullah Coordinator CEIF briefed the audience that the Centre is aimed at launching degree programmes, increasing awareness, carrying out research, delivering trainings in Islamic Finance.
Chief guest appreciated the efforts of Institute in providing quality education to the people of KP. He proposed that Bank of Khyber and CEIF-IM-Sciences can collaborate in content development, expertise exchange, and joint events.
On this occasion, he announced the opening of a sub-branch of Islamic Banking with an ATM facility at the IM-Sciences. At the end, the Director IM-Sciences presented souvenir to the chief guest.
Afterwards a scholarly seminar on “Maqasid al-Shari’ah: Achieving Islamic Finance in Substance” was organised in which renown scholars including Dr. Fahim Khan (Ex. director IRTI Islamic Development Bank), Dr. Shafiullah Jan (IMSciences), Dr. Karim Ullah (IMSciences) Dr. Nazim Zaman, Umm Al-Qura University, Dr. Lutfullah, (University of Swat, Ex. Shariah Advisor SECP), Dr. Saad Azmat (LUMS, Lahore), Mufti Zakir Hassan (Ex. Shari’ah Advisor, BOK) participated. The CEIF onwards events include national and international research conferences with collaborators inland and abroad.
