ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Netball Federation (PNF) president Mudassar Arain confirmed that Pakistan junior girls’ netball team would participate in the 9th Asian Youth Netball Championship 2015 to be held in Hong Kong from December 14.

The championship is being organised by Hong Kong Netball Association under the supervision of Asian Netball Federation. Talking to The Nation, Mudassar said: “It is our humble request to Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) to issue NOC and Rs 3.5 million special fund, which we require for participation in Asian Youth Championship. We hope the NOC and funds will be released shortly as we are continuously in contact with the IPC and the PSB in this regard.”

“As many as 12 teams including Singapore, Sri Lanka, Japan, Malaysia, Maldives, Hong Kong, Pakistan, India, Brunei, Thailand, Chinese Taipei and Abu Dubai are participating in this mega event. Singapore is the defending champion. Pakistan is placed in Group D and will play first match against Hong Kong on December 14 and second against Thailand on 16th. We have applied for Hong Kong visas,” he added.

Pakistan Junior girls training camp is in full swing at the PSB coaching center, Karachi in collaboration with Pakistan Sports Board. PSB Director General Dr Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera has already visited the camp and promised to provide tracksuits to all the players and officials. “We are grateful to the PSB DG for his all-out support. Pakistan junior girls team will depart on December 12 for Hong Kong,” Mudassar concluded.
