Paramedics protest for rights

LAHORE  - The Punjab Paramedics Alliance (PPA) and Health Support Staff Association have demanded the Punjab Health Department solve their long-awaited genuine demands till November 23, otherwise they would be compelled to start peaceful agitation campaign and would announce their future line of action.
Prominent leaders who attended and addressed the press conference included PPA provincial chairman and patron Malik Munir Ahmed, PPA organiser and spokesman Shoaib Anwar Chaudhary, President Mayo Hospital Tanivr Bhatti, President Children Hospital Ashiq Ghaus, President Ganga Ram Hospital Talat Sajjad, President PIC Hafiz Dilawar Hussain, General Secretary Mayo Hospital Qari Ashiq Gujjar, Asif Hussain, Rana Bashir, Aziz Jutt, Baji Naheed and many others.
They said that paramedics and health support staff are like backbone in health department but since the inception of the country they were worst neglected.
Five year back Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had assured them for the acceptance of their demands which could not implement so far in letter and spirit and even today they are waiting for Messiah to deliver them their basic rights.
The Punjab Chief Minister had promised service structure of health support staff (grade 1 to 4), BOM, adhoc, daily wages, contract work charge and regularisation of paramedics and health support staff according to regularisation policy of the government.
They said that in order to provide better health facilities to the population it is necessary to solve the basic rights of paramedics and health support staff. They said that though their protest, in case of non-acceptance of their demands, would be peaceful but any causality or loss of property would be government’s responsibility.
