ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan’s ex-wife, Reham Khan, was all set to get her marriage registered with the National Database and Registration Authority few days before the divorce between the duo, but she could not succeed due to her husband’s alleged non-cooperative attitude in this regard, The Nation learnt yesterday. The sources in Nadra told this correspondent that after the news of Imran-Reham separation broke on media, Reham, during her visit to Karachi, rushed to a local Nadra centre to get the marriage registered without proper documents. They said NADRA data entry operator asked her to bring the original identity card of her husband and “Nikkahnama” for the registration of her marriage in NADRA.

It is worth mentioning here that any citizen of Pakistan can his/her marriage registered at any NADRA centre anywhere in the world. After few days of this attempt of getting her marriage registered with Nadra, Reham Khan left for UK and the spokesman of PTI Naeem Ul Haq broke the divorce news on October 30 and issued the press release in this regard. Later, both Imran and Reham Khan confirmed the news on social media. After the separation, Reham Khan appeared in UK-based news channel and blamed in an interview that the PTI leadership was behind the divorce and one of the close aides of Imran Khan asked her to engage herself to kitchen only. She said the sisters of Imran Khan were also against this marriage from the day one.

Reham in her interview said that she and her family have been the victim of a smear campaign ever since her marriage and eventual divorce with Imran Khan. “My innocent children, they had nothing to do with this, and people have taken liberty to talk about them. There is a smear campaign, there is social media attacking them,” she said in an interview with a UK-based media outlet. She also lamented that her marriage is registered nowhere. On social media she claimed that she has not taken any money as a result of her divorce.
