Quetta - Four security personnel were martyred Saturday evening in Quetta by unidentified terrorists.

Unknown attackers riding a motorcycle opened indiscriminate fire at Frontier Corps soldiers at Fatimah Jinnah Road, killing three FC men and a traffic constable. Another FC soldier and a pedestrian were injured in the firing.

According to AFP, the shooting was claimed by the Al-Alami faction of the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) group, according to a statement released by a spokesman.

The personnel of law enforcing agencies rushed to the spot, cordoned off the area for search purposes and shifted the dead and injured to Quetta Civil Hospital.

Hospital sources confirmed the death of three FC men and the traffic cop. They said two of the dead FC men were brought to the hospital in critical condition and they succumbed to injuries at Operation Theater of the Trauma Centre.

Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri strongly condemned the terror attack and expressed grief over the martyrdom of security personnel. Seeking report of the incident, he issued directives for arrest of perpetrators of the attack at the earliest.

Meanwhile, a huge cache of arms and explosives along ball bearings were seized from a compound in the area of Dasht on Saturday.

According to spokesman Balochistan Frontier Corps, the sensitive agencies and FC crew recovered the weapons and the 25 kg explosive material, eight hand grenades, three SMGs, 350 detonators along ball bearings and destructive materials during a raid. However, no arrest was made while further investigation was underway.


APP adds: The Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan on Saturday arrested eight suspects in the industrial town of Hub in Lasbela district and Turbat.

An FC spokesman, in a press statement here, said acting on intelligence information, the FC teams conducted a raid in Hub and nabbed two suspects, who had ties with the banned TTP.

The arrested suspects were being interrogated by special investigation teams.

The Frontier Corps also arrested six suspects during a search operation in a bazaar in Bilangor area of Kech Turbat.

A spokesman for FC said here that FC teams launched a search operation in a bazaar in Bilangor area of Kech Turbat district in Makran division and arrested six suspects.

The six were taken into custody on suspicion of their relations with banned militant organisation, Baloch Republican Army (BRA), he said.

FC investigation team has been interrogating the suspects.
