Ski federation releases busy one month schedule

ISLAMABAD-Ski federation Saturday released the forthcoming winter games 30 days schedule of various ski completions to be held at Naltar ski sloop and Malam Jabba ski resort.

Ski Federation Pakistan spokesman Obaid Ur Rehman Abbasi informed that these national and international completions would start on 4th January and would conclude on 20th February.

The interesting aspect of these winter games is that picturesque KP valley Malam Jabba, which had not witnessed international competitions for the last 12 years or so due to destruction of facilities during Swat operation, is all set to host Alpine Ski Championship as Federation of International Skiing recently gave approval of hosting two international FIS races at Malam Jabba. An FIS technical expert, who had visited the sloop last year termed the sloop perfect for FIS races.

Obaid said two races in slalom and giant slalom categories would take place in Malam Jabba on 24th January in which some international teams including Pakistani top international skiers would be seen in action. Similarly these international teams would also be participating in prestigious Chief of Air Staff International Alpine Cup 2017 to be played at Naltar Ski Sloop during first week of February.

He said Sadia Khan and Children Ski championships would take place at Naltar Ski Slope on 16th of January to 19th whereas one day traditional Chinese downhill children wooden ski competition would take place at Naltar on 20th January. Four-day Malam Jabba Alpine Ski Championship would be held on 24th to 28th January, in which national and international teams’ would be competing for top honours. More than 40 national teams of various affiliated clubs, associations including Army, Navy, Pakistan Air Force, HEC, associations of four provinces, Islamabad and Gilgit/Baltistan are invited by the federation. National Ski Championship and Chief of Air Staff International Korakuram Alpine Ski Cup would be held at Naltar from 31st January to 3rd February, whereas Chief of Joint Staff Committee Ski Championship, Inter-services Ski Cup and Shah Khan Cup would be played at Naltar from February 4 to 10th.

CAS Open Ski Championship cross country ski competition and inter-base ski championship would start from 15th February and conclude on 20th.
