SHIKARPUR - In order to motivate and inspire the students of engineering and computer sciences from various universities throughout Sindh, the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Sukkur organised a competition, titled SIBACOM, at its cricket ground late Saturday night.
The students of electrical engineering and computer science departments from various universities, including Sukkur IBA, Bahria University, PAF-KIET Karachi, University of Sindh, MUET SZAB Campus Khairpur Mirs, QUEST Nawabshah, QUEST Larkana, MUET Jamshoro, DHA SUFFA Karachi, Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur Mirs and SZABIST participated in the competition.
The competition was supervised by Assistant Professor and Coordinator of ME Programme Dr Muhammad Asim Samejo, while the students from 17 cities of upper Sindh, including, Sukkur, Larkana, Ghotki, Pano Akil, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Khairpur and others visited the event and took keen interest in different projects showcased by the students.
The event consisted of various competitions among the teams, including Hardware Competition in which 57 teams participated, Line Following Robot Competition, Speed Programing Competition, Gaming Competition (FIFFA & Counter Strike) and Circuit Designing Competition.
Sukkur IBA Acting Vice Chancellor Engineer Zahid Hussain Khand formally inaugurated the event by cutting the ribbon. Later, he went round different stalls, set up by the students, and appreciated the hard work done by them. Total 500 students participated in the event.
It is worth mentioning here that the competition is a regular feature of Sukkur IBA.
Assistant Professor Asim Samejo, briefing about the competition, said, “Gone are the days when the parents wanted to make their children doctors and engineers. But now we have to produce scientists, who can help introduce various technologies that could facilitate today’s busy lives. The event has been organised to bring professionals and students with potential on one platform in order to motivate them to opt for modern sciences also instead of pursuing the medical or engineering profession alone.”
He further said, “We have already wasted much of our precious time, and now we must resolve to produce more scientists to make Pakistan a prosperous country.”
