Seminar on Diabetes Day held at DHA

LAHORE (PR): Under the arrangements of DHA Medical Centre, an awareness seminar was held at Community Centre Defence club ‘J’ sector on the occasion of World Diabetes Day. DHA Lahore Administrator Brig Muhammad Sajid Khokhar graced the occasion as the chief guest.

The imposing ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by a welcome address by the DHA Medical Services Director Brig Muhammad Naeem.

On the occasion, Post Graduate Medical Institute Principal Prof Ghiasun Nabi Tayyab and consultants Dr Maliha Hameed, Dr Jawad Bin Yamin, Dr Ahmed Usman and Dr Naveed Malik said that early diagnosis and proper management was essential to avoid further complications like heart attack, paralysis, blindness and feet problems. The doctors’ advised people to approach qualified doctor instead of using shortcuts for complete cure.

Addressing awareness seminar, Brig Sajid Khokhar said that diabetes is a silent killer. According to the International Diabetes Federation estimates, the current rate of diabetes was more than 25 percent that would be increased to 40 percent in the next few years. He said that control on diabetes was in the hands of people. Healthy lifestyle, avoiding junk food, soft drinks and regular exercise was key to check diabetes. Every third adult Pakistani was at risk of getting diabetes, he added.
