According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has inaugurated the country's second LNG terminal at Port Qasim in Karachi.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, he said with this the country has become surplus in gas but this would be a temporary phenomenon as more and more gas-based power plants are coming on line.

He said the demand for LNG was increasing and setting up of the second terminal without government guarantee is manifestation of confidence of the market.

He said Pakistan's LNG requirements would exceed 30 million tons per year in next three year.
