KARACHI - A couple was killed after a speeding car hit them on Karachi’s Shaheed Millat Expressway on Sunday.

According to details, Mehmoodabad’s resident Abdul Aziz was waiting at the bus station along with his wife Shareefan Bibi when a speeding car crushed them to death.

Police arrived at the location and arrested three teenage boys Waleed, Khizar and Abdur Rehman in custody who were riding in the car.

The vehicle belongs to Waleed’s father Shahid. In a bid to save himself, he tried to make up a story when interrogated by the police however; his companion Khizar revealed the truth.

Police after registering a case against them has initiated further investigation.

‘Bandit’ killed in ‘encounter’:

Police claimed to have killed a suspected bandit during an alleged encounter in the outskirts of the city.

The bandit was killed during an exchange of fire between police and bandits in Landhi area.

Police said that during patrolling during wee hours on Sunday, police tried to intercept two bike riders from near Karbala Ground, Landhi.

However, the suspects opened fire at the cops in their bid to escape, police said, and added that the cops retaliated during which one of the bandits sustained wounds and died on the spot, but his accomplice manage to escape from the scene under the cover of fire.

Police shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JMPC) for autopsy, and later moved it to a morgue for identification.
