STATE Bank of Pakistan Governor Dr Shamshad Akhtar presided over a meeting, which was held at the SBP Head Office on Sunday and was attended by the heads of 20 banks, reports a private TV channel. Challenges being faced by the banking sector and steps taken by the SBP to solve the liquidity problem came under discussion were taken up at the meeting.  Liquidity concerns of small banks were analysed in detail.  Dr Shamshad Akhtar also briefed the bankers about her meeting with the officials of the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) and the prevailing crisis at bourse. She put before them the demands of the KSE stakeholders. The bankers in response assured the SBP Governor of their positive role in resolving the liquidity problem of the KSE.
