Medicine shortage

I am a chronic diabetic and heart patient. I underwent a bye-pass surgery at Punjab Institute of Cardiology in June 2005 and since then I have been purchasing Insulin (Humulin 70/30) from the pharmacy of the said hospital on subsidised rates beside buying other medicines from market due to non-availability in the hospitals pharmacy. For the last many days Insulin is not available at the pharmacys counter and the pharmacists have no idea when the supply would resume. In the name of humanity I request the Health Department in general and the Chief Minister Punjab in particular to look into the matter and make sure that Insulin and other heart related medicines are available on subsidised rates at the PIC pharmacy thus providing some relief to the overburdened and poor patients. MICHAEL KAROLUS, Lahore, October 17.
