ISLAMABAD - Secretariat Police have booked the managing director of a local company who allegedly attempted to bribe an MNA, Bushra Gohar of ANP, to secure out of turn contract from PMs development funds for District Swabi in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The police have registered an FIR under sections 165-A and 162 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against Asad Ullah Khan, managing director of Asad Enterprises. According to Secretariat Police, Asad Ullah Khan approached Bushra Gohar to get contracts in the name of a construction company, namely, PMD Constructions, from the PMs development funds on her discretion for her native district, Swabi. Bushra Gohar is Chairman of the National Assemblys Standing Committee on Women Development and belongs to Swabi. The accused also offered the woman parliamentarian that if she managed to get contract of 50 million for the firm, he would pay her 25 percent of the total amount as kickbacks. Prime Minister releases development funds for any district on the discretion of MNA belonging to the respective constituency. The woman parliamentarian got furious and went straight to the police station and lodged a complaint with the police in this regard. Moharrar, Secretariat Police Station, told this scribe that the police had arrested the accused and he had been sent on judicial remand on the orders of the local court.
