RAWALPINDI The prize distribution ceremony of Inter Schools Sports Tournament 2010 was held at Federal Government (FG) Technical High School, Tariqabad here on Tuesday. The tournament had been organised by Federal Government Educational Institutions, Cantt and Garrison (FGEIs-C/G) Rawalpindi Region. In the ceremony, FGEIs-C/G Directorate Deputy Director Col Shahid Mehmood Malik was the chief guest whereas GSO-I Rawalpindi Region Lt Col Rafaqat Islam, FG Technical High School Tariqabad Principal/Sports Secretary Malik Muhammad Aslam Awan, principals of other schools, which participated in the sports gala, and a good number of students were also present on the occasion. While addressing, the chief guest said that sports and co-curricular activities unfold the latent potentialities of students that was why these activities have got significance in FGEIs-C/G schools routine. He said that the inter institution competitions provided students an opportunity to enhance their skills and excel in areas beyond academia. He said that such events prepare students practically for the future. He said it was healthy activity making students exposed to practical tasks and guided them about team work, sportsmanship, etc. Deputy Director FGEIs-C/G was of view that the directorate provided ample sports and recreational facilities to the students, in such diverse fields as cricket, hockey, tennis, gymnastics, basketball, table tennis and athletics. At the end of ceremony, the chief guest and school principal distributed prizes and trophies among the winning teams.
