LAHORE - Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed of the Lahore High Court on Tuesday again issued notice to the Punjab government on a petition challenging removal of as many as 62 district law officers, including prosecutors and deputy prosecutors. The court, on October 13, had admitted the petition for regular hearing and issued notice to the Punjab government. The service of the notice could not be made, so now fresh notices have been issued. Judge had already restrained the government from withdrawing perks and privileges of the law officers while hearing their petitions. Petitioners Asad and others challenged their removal, pleading that the government had not adopted any legal course while terminating their services. Petitioners counsel said that they had passed examination conducted for their continuation of jobs but the government removed them without disclosing any cogent reason. He requested that the notification about their removal be set aside and the government be directed to reinstate their services immediately
