Another Rs 2.3 million bank dacoity

KARACHI - At least five robbers looted Rs2.3 million from a private bank's branch at Main Rashid Minhas Road in Sharah-e-Faisal Police precincts in broad daylight on Wednesday. Witnesses said that at least five armed culprits wearing Shalwar Kameez came in a High-roof. Four of them barged into the bank and started looting cash from the cash counter and the strong room. They also took DVR system and a rifle from the security guard away with them while fleeing. Police officials said that they had started questioning the bank staffers about their possible involvement in the robbery and also detained a security guard Nisar. It was the 12th robbery in current year as earlier millions of rupees had already been robbed in from different areas of the City including Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Nazimabad, Pirabad and SITE and these cases are yet to be resolved. Police officials said, "They entered the bank at around 12:31pm and escaped within five minutes. They held staffers at gunpoint.
