LAHORE – Overloading is like a cancer for the roads, besides being perilous for the national financial system, thus the National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) appeals to goods transport to join hands with the police to stop overloading on motorways and highways.

SSP Inam-ur-Rehman Malik stated this while addressing a seminar on ‘Road Safety’ that was organised by the NH&MP N-5 Central Sector-III, Rahim Yar Khan. The seminar was arranged on the directions of DIG Rai Altaf Hussain.

According to a press release, the Sector Commander further said that more than one million people died in road accidents every year around the world and road accident losses were equivalent to three percent of GDP in most of the countries.

He further said that most of the vehicles on the roads were unfit for driving and implementation of the Vehicle Fitness System was necessary for road safety.
