ISLAMABAD - Except the main opposition party PML-N, the entire political forces have hailed the Supreme Court verdict on Asghar Khan case on Friday.Senator Mushaidullah Khan of the PML-N, while commenting on the SC decision, denied that his party had taken money distributed among the politicians by the then Army Chief and DG ISI. He pointed out that his party PML-N did not exit at that time.President Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said that he was offered bribe by former Army Chief General (r) Mirza Aslam Baig but he refused to take.Talking to media men on Friday to share his views on the Supreme Court’s historical judgment, he said, “I and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi were offered lucrative money by General Baig. We thanked him for the offer but refused to accept the money,” he said adding that those involved in the scam must be put to trial and accountability be held on merit.Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan termed the decision a victory of democracy and a historic step towards upcoming free and fair general elections.He said that the decision would not only strengthen democracy in the country but it is also a clear warning for those who used to rig elections by distributing money among politicians and other means.He also congratulated Asghar Khan for pursuing his petition tirelessly for past six years. He said that all those politicians who received money from ISI during 90s should answer to the nation for their wrongdoings.Besides FIA, he also called upon the Election Commission of Pakistan that it should take necessary steps for transparent elections in upcoming days in the country by probing on merit all the irregularities committed by politicians and ISI officials in past as per directions of the honourable Supreme Court.Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) spokesman Wasay Jalil said that action should be taken against the persons involved in it. “There is a dire need to take certain steps to avoid such bad practice in future,” he commented. It has also been proved that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) had never been involved in this game, he added.Another senior MQM legislator Waseem Akhtar said that the real facts and faces behind this case should be exposed. “Now further process should be speedy so that masses could now real facts,” he added.When contacted, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) central leader Liaqat Baloch welcomed the ruling and said that it has been established how certain agencies engineered elections in past. “It should not be happened in future so that free and fair elections could possible in the country,” he said, adding that it has been revealed that Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) had no link with IJI. To a question, he said that the process of implementation should be fast. “Its already too late but now implementation process should be fast,” he added.When contacted, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Abdul Ghafoor Haideri termed the decision a historic and bold step, which clearly exposed different important matters. “This decision should have come earlier but it’s never too late to mend,” he commented, adding that it has been exposed from verdict how elections were rigged. “It has exposed that how national kitty were showered at some personalities.“JUI(F) has time and again stated about this fact and now time has proved it,” Haideri maintated. Democracy could not flourish in the country because of such role of establishment, he added. To a question about implementation, he said that Chief Justice (CJ) has announced many of decision in recent past but implementation is not satisfactory. “Process of implementation to expose further faces should not be slow,” he added. JUI-F leader also made it clear that JUI-F had never been part of IJI and part of any heinous activity.
