Hurt N fires back at PPP

LAHORE - PML-N spokesman Senator Pervaiz Rashid has said that the PPP as ‘tool of the conspirators’ stands exposed now. He said the Supreme Court in its verdict has named three persons who all have been close associates of PPP leaders and were main characters in the political conspiracies.
Pervaiz said that Ghulam Ishaq Khan dissolved Nawaz Sharif’s government on October 18, 1993 with the support of Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari was made a federal minister in the interim government. He said that the PPP government awarded Tamgha-e-Jamhoriat to General Aslam Beg while appointed General Asad Durrani as ambassador to Germany.
The PML-N leader asked the PPP to tell the people for what national services these favours were showered on the conspirators and what was the reason of this mutual love. Pervaiz Rashid reminded that in 1988 when IJI was set up, its founder president was Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi, while the rigged 1990 elections were also conducted by caretaker Prime Minister Jatoi, who later allied with the PPP and supported Benazir Bhutto in her train march against Nawaz Sharif government.
PML-N Central Secretary Information Mushahiddullah Khan expressed suspicions that PPP would bypass the SC directions fearing that a transparent investigation, through Younus Habib, would expose Zardari as the main character of the whole episode. He said that everyone knows that Younus had given his statements on the instance of Asif Ali Zardari as they have been companions in the jail.
Zardari, he said, was much closer to President Ghulam Ishaq Khan, who also made him (Zardari) minister for Environment. Demanding a fair and transparent probe into the allegations, Mushahid said, the PML-N has already strongly rebutted the allegations.
Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah urged President Asif Ali Zardari to immediately relinquish the political office in light of the Supreme Court verdict if he wants to stay in the constitutional office. According to the SC decision in Asghar Khan case, neither any political cell can be set up at the President House nor political activities can be carried out, he said. Therefore, President Zardari should immediately resign either from the PPP chairmanship or as the president, he added.
Rana said that there is no mention of Nawaz Sharif in the entire verdict and the joy of PPP leaders was beyond comprehension. He said the decision has held Gen Aslam Beg and Gen Asad Durrani to have distributed money during elections and questioned if the PPP, which awarded Tamgha-e-Jamhuriat to General Beg, will take back the award now.
