Lesco cuts power of govt departments


LAHORE – The Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) on Friday disconnected electricity supply to various government departments in the Samnabad Division over non-payment of bills.
Lesco XEN Anwar Qaseem informed that the departments were defaulter of more than Rs6.7 million and they had not paid the bills despite repeated requests. Various public and private departments are defaulters of billons of rupees of power distribution companies, who cite this as the major reason behind loadshedding.
The departments whose supply was disconnected on Friday include: Public Health Institute Prem Nagar over non-payment of Rs2.6 million, Sabzazar G-Block SHO over Rs1.9 million, Mineral and Mines Directorate Poonch Road over Rs0.7 million, and Building Research Director Leak Road over Rs0.1 million.
