MUZAFFARGARH - The prime responsibility of the police is to maintain law and order, protect life, property and honour of the citizens, and to fulfill the responsibility, the policemen ought to work with commitment and dedication, said Dera Ghazi Khan Division Commissioner Tariq Mehmood.

He was chairing a meeting to review law and order in the district. Tariq Mehmood said that maintenance of law and order is essential for improving investment as well as economic activities. He directed police and all security institutions to work in a well coordinated manner and improve police patrolling system. He directed them to keep a watchful eye on suspicious elements and issued instructions for maximum security of all the institutions and sensitive places.

Reviewing the security plan for the protection of foreigners, he said that the whole nation was united against terrorism, and this scourge will eventually be eliminated. He said that good security companies should be contacted for security arrangements at different institutions and commercial centres besides deputing guards at these places.

He pointed out that installation of closed circuit television cameras at important places, roads and crossings was essential, and effective steps be taken in this regard. Tariq stressed the need for taping the expertise of Elite Police Force. He also directed that effective arrangements be made regarding security of mosques and Imambargahs during Eidul Azha. He directed District Administration to make security arrangements around all worship places with assistance of intelligence organisations.

He directed the police to intensify snap-checking, patrolling, picketing and deployment of law enforcers. Dera Ghazi Khan RPO Nawaz Warraich, DCO Abrar Ahmed Mughal, DPO Malik Zeeshan Asghar, Khan Sayial, AC Sajad Hussain, Kot Addu AC Nasrullah Khan, AC Khalid Mehmood and other officials besides Ulema were also president.
