IGP directs tight security at picnic spots

ISLAMABAD - Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Sikandar Hayat on Saturday directed for deployment of more police personnel at picnic spots to ensure security for visitors.
The IGP, in a directive, asked the police high officials to remain vigilant and ensure presence of personnel at all the picnic spots, including Lack View, Chatar Park, Dama-e-koh, Rawal Dam.
He also directed them to beef up security at mosques and Imambarghs and other important places to avoid any untoward incident, said a pree release.
He said that all resources should be utilized to ensure the security of the people.
The IGP directed the police officials to remain high alert and tighten security at entry and exit points of the city.
Anti-terrorist police should also be deployed for the security, he added.
He directed the assistant superintendents of police (ASPs) to monitor the security of their respective areas as per the security plan announced for Eid holidays.
He asked that special focus should be given to ensure safety of properties and stop incidents of theft and car lifting during the holidays. Strict vigilanceof the city areas should be ensured and private security guards must be made alert to tackle any situation.
Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on the special directions of Acting SSP (Traffic), Asmat Ulah Junejo, made a special deployment plan under which markets as well as shopping areas were manned by traffic officials to regulate the traffic and ensure planned parking.
Traffic police deployment in shopping areas and markets will remain augmented till Sunday to facilitate general public.
