AHMEDPUR EAST-Bahawalpur National Awami Party (BNAP) Chairman Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi has said that neither he had any personal agenda in the past and nor in future as his only mission is to get former provincial status of Bahawalpur restored. “I am ready to join hands with anyone including the incumbent rulers to achieve this goal and will not even budge from laying down my life for this cause.”
BNAP Chairman Nawab Salahuddin expressed the views while talking to a group of newsmen at the residence of Sajjada Nasheen Uch Sharif Makhdoom Syed Zammurd Hussein Bukhari here on Saturday.
Former federal minister Farooq Azam Malik, two ex-tehsil nazimeens Makhdoom Syed Samiul Hassan Gillani, Makhdoom Syed Sabtain Haider Bukhari and BNAP leaders including Mian Rafatur Rehman Rehmani and Mian Ilyas were also present on this occasion.
Nawab Salahuddin reiterated his stance that he would continue the movement for the restoration Bahawalpur province until his last breaths, adding that he had no longing for power and therefore rejected the offers for the Governorship and Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab offered and asked only for the restoration of Bahawalpur province but his genuine demand was not accepted.
To a question about the Punjab CM’s comment about him made at the inaugural ceremony of Quaid-e-Azam Solar Energy park project, he thanked Shahbaz Sharif for calling him as his brother and said that it would be a great favour to 12.5 million people of Bahawalpur region if both Premier Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif restored the Bahawalpur province as per their election commitment.
Commenting Abbasi family’s old ties with both Sajjada Nasjeen Gillani and Bukhari families of Uch Sharif, he paid rich tributes to saints of both families who spread Islam in Sub-continent.
The BNAP chief said that former Bahawalpur State’s Abbasi rulers had allocated seats (Kursi Nasheen) in their Darbar for both families heads in recognition for their historical Islamic services. He hoped that Gillani Bukhari ittehad would remain intact in the upcoming local bodies polls and the new generation of both Sajjada Nasheens families would play positive role for the uplift of area.
Later on, he along with Sajjada Nasheen Uch Sharif Makhdoom Syed Zammurud Hussein Bukhari drove to the residence of his uncle late Makhdoom Syed Aun Muhammad Bukhari and condoled his death with elder son Makhdoomzada Syed Muzzamil Abbas Bukhari and other family members. He also offered fateha for the departed soul.
Meanwhile, PML-Q MNA Chaudhry Tariq Bashir Cheema, MPA Dr Muhammad Afzal, former PPP MNA Sardar Malik Aamar Yar Warran, former PPP MPA Shah Rukh Malik and BNAP MPA Makhdoom Syed Iftikhar Hassan Gillani called on Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi separately and discussed with him the prevailing political situation and the upcoming local bodies elections.
Meanwhile, Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi also visited the residence of late former Shere-e-Yezman Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal and condoled his death with his brother Chaudhry Muhammad Khalid and other family members. He paid rich tribute to Late Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal for his services which he had rendered for the betterment of his constituency.
