The police claimed to have arrested an accused six hours after he murdered a nine-year-old girl after sexual assault.
Addressing a press conference here the other day, Sahiwal DPO Syed Khurram Ali Shah said that the Harrapa Police were tipped off that a nine-year-old girl namely Palvasha, daughter of Razaq Masih, a resident of Chak 190/9-L, was murdered after sexual assault by unidentified accused in maize crop fields. He stated that he himself reached the spot where the aggrieved parents informed him that their daughter went out to the field answer the call of natural call the other morning. However, when she did not return they searched her out but to no avail. Later they found her dead body in maize field after 24 hours. The DPO said that to trace the blind murder, he constituted three teams under the supervision of the Saddr Circle DSP. The three teams headed by CIA DSP Zafar Iqbal Dogar, Chichawatni Saddr Police SHO Hafiz Saeed and Harrapa Police SHO Nisar Ahmed Bhatti.
The Saddr DSP briefed the teams officials who adopted modern scientific measures and collected all evidence besides taking into account the footsteps of the victim and accused. After hectic efforts for about four to five hours, the police traced the accused identified as Asim Mukhtar, son of Mukhtar Masih, a neighbour of the victim girl. During preliminary investigation the accused confessed to the crime.
