ISLAMABAD - Pakistan tennis pride Samir Iftikhar squeezed into the USTA/ITA Regional Championships semi-finals at Darling Tennis Centre. Samir overcame 5-7 first set deficit to outclass Artemity Nikitin of University of Idaho. After losing the first set, Samir completely overwhelmed hapless Nikitin in next two sets, winning second set 6-3 and third 6-2 in three hour-long nerve-wrecking battle. On the same day, the Pakistani exhibited his prowess in the quarterfinal against Thomas Tenreiro of Boise State and won it 6-4, 6-7, 6-0. Samir will now take on No 1 seed Andy Beatles from Boise State University in the semifinals. The match is predicted to be battle of titans as both the players hold 1-1 win/loss record against each other.–Staff Reporter
