Rawalpindi - Aerial firing in jubilation has become a great nuisance for the citizens and they expressed grave concern over the indifferent attitude of police towards sheer violation of the marriage ordinance.

Display of fireworks and aerial firing has become a routine during marriages. Aerial firing has claimed scores of precious lives and only criminal apathy has been shown by the authorities concerned to curb this menace. The secret warehouses at Narankari Bazaar and other areas, mainly in Raja Bazaar, are stuffed with fireworks, which are being sold with impunity. The citizens have demanded of the government to implement the marriage ordinance in true letter and spirit, besides bringing the violators to justice to avert any major mishap.

The people, particularly living near marriage halls, said they spent sleepless nights as a large number of citizens violated the orders. Wedding ceremonies, which last till late night, coupled with heavy aerial firing have virtually made the lives of the citizens, particularly elderly people and children, miserable.  When contacted SHO Bunni police station Nadeem Zafar said due to paucity of manpower it was impossible for them to put all the wedding halls and other functions.

organised at homes under vigilance and take the ban violators to the task.

Public and social circles called upon the police authorities to ensure the enforcement of the ban and take action against the violators.
