LAHORE (PR) - The recently-appointed VC of AIOU, Dr. Shahid Siddiqui, inaugurated the newly-constructed Admin Block at the Regional Campus, Lahore. Since this was his first visit to the campus as Vice Chancellor, a grand ceremony was organised in his honour. Regional Director Mr. Rasool Baksh Behram, members of the faculty and staffers greeted him. A large number of guests, including former Regional Directors, were also present at the occasion. Mr. Naseer-ul-Hashmi, a senior journalist and an academic, hosted the ceremony. This is the largest university in Pakistan, providing education facilities to people from all walks of life at their own place. It was established in 1974. Initially, about three dozen students were enrolled. Now, there are approximately 1.3 million students benefiting from this academia and more than 1,600 courses are being taught at the regional campuses.
