ISLAMABAD - Police have booked 14 religious scholars, including Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) Chief Maulana Muhammad Ahmad Ludhianvi, for misusing loudspeaker and spreading hatred in their speeches while addressing a rally at Hockey Ground, G-7 Markaz, on October 17.
According to an FIR registered under section 295-A and 3/4 amplifier act, the religious scholars including Maulana Muhammad Ahmad Ludhianvi, Maulana Abdur Razzaq Haideri, Mian Muhammad Naqshbandi, Maulana Faraz Ahmad, Maulana Muhammad Ramzan, Maulana Abdul Aziz, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Maulana Zubair Siddiqui, Maulana Muawia Azam, Maulana Khadim Hassan, Maulana Muhammad Ashraf Tahir, Maulana Aurangzeb Farooqi, Maulana Hameed Yaqoob and Maulana Masood-ur-Rehman Usman delivered provocative speeches over loudspeaker and spread religious hatred amongst the masses.
The police are yet to arrest the accused. Meanwhile, Islamabad police have arrested eight outlaws and eight beggars during special vigilance throughout the city and recovered 1.2 kilograms hashish, four wine bottles and weapons from their possession, a police spokesman said on Sunday.
According to details, Industrial Area police arrested a drug pusher Shahid Nawaz and recovered 1.2 kilograms hashish and one 30-bore pistol along with ammunition from his possession. Golra police arrested four accused namely Nawaz, Hamza, Zohaib and Nasir for having one bottle of wine. Police also arrested two accused namely Saif-Ullah and Sarfraz Ahmed and recovered one 30-bore pistol and one 12-bore gun along with ammunition. Kohsar police arrested a bootlegger Umar Mukhtar and recovered two wine bottles. Cases have been registered against the nabbed persons and further investigation is under way.
Police also arrested eight beggars in a drive to curb the menace and registered FIRs against those professional alms-seekers and their handlers.
