LAHORE (HANDOUT ) - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan is passing through the most critical phase of its history and is facing crisis like poverty, unemployment, extremism and other challenges.

The chief minister was talking to a delegation of assembly members and Muslim League-N workers of various districts, on Sunday. He said that there was a need for national unity at this stage and for all political parties and their leaders to play their due role to steer the country out of problems and issues.  Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan could not afford politics of sit-ins, protests and chaos and the elements engaged in such activities had hampered the process of national development for the achievement of their selfish interests. He said that those staging sit-ins had undermined the serious efforts for taking the country out of darkness and they would never be forgiven by history.  He said that the goal of progress and prosperity would be achieved under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He further said that the PML-N had been given a mandate of five years which would be honoured and the process of public service would continue. He said that untimely sit-ins and so-called revolution had met their death.  The chief minister said that Muslim League-N government led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would continue its efforts for the progress and prosperity of the country and the day was not far when Pakistan would overcome all its problems and become a welfare state in the real sense.

Shahbaz Sharif said that due to solid economic policies of the government, Pakistani currency had stabilised and the economic indicators had also improved but the politics of sit-ins and sabotage had caused an irreparable damage to the national economy. He said that due to sit-ins, the important visits of President of China and other foreign delegations have been postponed.

 He said that agreements for investment of billions of dollars were to be signed while foundation stone of several power projects was to be laid during the visit of the Chinese President.

The chief minister said that 18 crore people of Pakistan would never forgive the elements who destroyed the future of the coming generations. He said that the real faces of such elements as hatched the conspiracy to create hurdles in the process of progress and prosperity had been exposed and they should know that nothing can hamper the process of national development and Pakistan will reach its destination.

Shahbaz Sharif further said that the PML-N government was serving the people of Punjab selflessly for the last six and a half years and new records of public service would be set in future. He said that mega projects worth billions of rupees had been executed in Punjab speedily and in a transparent manner. He said that a large number of people were benefitting from Ashiyana housing scheme, Punjab educational endowment fund, provision of free medicines, mobile health units, metro bus service, Daanish school system, modern infrastructure and other welfare programmes.

He said that the process of speedy completion of public welfare projects would be continued in future as well and no effort would be spared for the progress and prosperity of the masses. Pakistan will be steered out of problems and put on the road to progress and development under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, he added.

Assembly members and PML-N workers paid tributes to Shahbaz Sharif for his services to the people and said that Punjab is making rapid progress under his leadership. They said that mega development projects and modern infrastructure are a proof of speedy progress of the province.

They said that Shahbaz Sharif had set records of public service and had stood by the distressed people in every hour of trial including floods, earthquakes and outbreak of diseases. They said that people of Punjab deeply love Shahbaz Sharif.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has condemned kidnapping and murder of eight labourers in Hub.

Expressing his sorrow and grief over the tragic incident, he sympathised with the bereaved families. He said that he was deeply grieved over the brutal murder of the labourers. He prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the members of the bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.

CONDOLENCE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of Riaz Sipra, former IG Police and retired Federal Secretary.

In a condolence message, the chief minister prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the members of the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
