KP to establish model schools in Fata: Mehtab

PESHAWAR - Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan said Monday that governor’s model schools were being set up in all agencies of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) to provide quality education to the youth of tribal area.
Talking to media after inspecting the under construction building of  the Fata House in Islamabad, the governor said since health and education sectors were the worst-hit of terrorism, the government was pursuing a multi-pronged strategy, including opening governor model schools to revive those crucial sectors of the Fata.  He said our security forces and tribesmen had rendered great sacrifices for the peace and stability of Pakistan and whole region.
As part of such efforts, he said, efforts were also being made to ensure operation of all those education facilities which had been lying dysfunctional for a long in the area. He said teachers’ strength was being enhanced with working out a mechanism to ensure they were performing their duties, regularly in order to capitalise fully on development-oriented efforts of the government.
Replying to a question, he said three cadet colleges had already been established in the Fata, providing quality education to children, who had long been deprived of education.
Answering another question, he said repatriation of the TDPs to five agencies, including Khyber Agency, Orakzai Agency, Kurram Agency, South and North Waziristan Agencies was simultaneously in progress, reaching its number to around 1,25,000, so far, he added.
He said massive reconstruction and rehabilitation activities were taking place to resettle the TDPs in a dignified manner in their respective areas with ensuring all possible facilities. Earlier, during the briefing by officials of Construction and Works (C&W), Fata division regarding Fata House, the Governor strongly directed the relevant officials to complete the facilities within the deadline.
He also directed that the relevant officials should initiate work concurrently on all remaining portions and provide facilities to have the building complete in time. He directed quality of work be ensured while pursuing the approved design with provision of all stipulated facilities to erect an elegant edifice.
The governor was informed efforts had been expedited to complete the building within stipulated period, therefore work on phase-II and phase-III had been kicked off, simultaneously. Muhammad Jalal, XEN, C&W Fata, Division, said the second phase was being carried out at a cost of Rs199.991 million, completing in June 30, 2016.
