ISLAMABAD - Public Accounts Committee Chairman Syed Khursheed Shah yesterday formed a five members committee to watch attitude of ‘powerful bureaucracy’ for ignoring meetings of parliamentary accountability body (PAC).
Shah Khursheed Shah, chairing the committee to review audit objection of National Insurance Company Limited, expressed displeasure over the absence of chairmen of NICL and State Life Insurance.
“This five-member committee to watch attitude of ‘powerful bureaucracy’ for not attending PAC meetings will consult with National Assembly speaker Iyaz Sadiq for further course of action,” said Shah.
At the onset of the committee meeting, it was informed that Chairman State Life Insurance missed PAC meeting as he could not avail flight from Multan. “If flight was not available why he (Chairman State Life Insurance) did not come here by road,” said Chairman PAC expressed displeasure over the absence of chairmen.
“Even after taking TADA and business class tickets of aero planes they ignore parliamentary meeting but at the same time rush to attend Prime Minister’s meeting on only one call,” he commented.
About Chairman NICL, the committee was told that he was busy in High Court’s hearing in some case.
Whereas, the court notice was not presented in the meeting by the NICL officials even on the demands of Chairman PAC.
Taking strict notice, Chairman PAC formed a five members committee to watch attitude of ‘powerful bureaucracy’ for ignoring directions of PAC and immediately adjourned the meeting.
PAC members Sardar Ashiq Gopang, Syed Naveed Qamar, Mian Abdul Manan and other attended the meeting.
