The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Political Committee has announced its decision to boycott the voting process for constitutional amendments in both the National Assembly and Senate.

In an official statement, the committee emphasized that it would protest against any PTI members who defy party policy and participate in the vote.

The PTI committee has condemned the current ruling group, asserting that it lacks the moral, democratic, and constitutional authority to amend the constitution. It stressed that all PTI members in both houses, elected on the party ticket, are bound by party policy and the directives of the party leadership.

In a bold warning, the committee revealed that peaceful protests would be staged outside the homes of any PTI members who vote against party policy.

Amidst growing concerns, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan disclosed that two PTI senators, Zarqa Taimur and Faisal Saleem, may vote in favor of the amendments, in direct violation of party policy. "I believe our two senators, Zarqa Taimur and Faisal Saleem, are likely to vote against party directives," Gohar Khan said.

In a parallel development, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar announced that the draft of the constitutional amendment package would be presented to the federal cabinet for formal approval today (Sunday). Speaking to the media in Islamabad alongside Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, the law minister confirmed that the proposals of JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had been incorporated into the draft.

Tarar also briefed the Federal Cabinet on the extensive discussions held regarding the constitutional amendments and presented the positions of allied parties during the cabinet meeting.

On Saturday, after multiple meetings at Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s residence in Islamabad, the presentation of the constitutional amendment draft was deferred to Sunday (today). Fazlur Rehman’s residence became the focal point of political activity, with key figures including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan, and BNP-Mengal leader Akhtar Mengal visiting to discuss the amendments.
