ISLAMABAD - In the backdrop of Governor Punjab Salman Taseers letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan wherein he appealed to the CJ to form a judicial commission to probe into the report regarding assassination plot of Chief Justice Lahore High Court Khawaja Muhammad Sharif, Interior Ministry on Sunday has decided to constitute a judicial commission. Responding to the Governor, the apex court informed him that the Federal Government had the authority to constitute a judicial commission. A spokesman for Interior Ministry said that the Governor Punjab had been informed that decision to constitute a judicial commission to investigate into the alleged assassination plot of Honourable CJ LHC, Khawaja Muhammad Sharif, had already been taken promptly the last week. He said that the Ministry had asked the Registrar LHC to propose names for the commission. Now Interior Ministry is waiting for the names. We hope to get them tomorrow (Monday) and notification will be issued accordingly without any delay, the Spokesman added. Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik has directed Secretary Interior to ensure notification after receiving the names.
