The Supreme Court had in December last year ordered the Election Commission to revise faulty voter lists on writ petitions filed by Tehrik-i-Insaaf chief Imran Khan and many others. For this a deadline of February 23 was fixed. Fresh lists have been made available for people to check and point out any omission or wrong entries. But a report release by a news agency has made startling revelations stated that 20 million valid voters have not been included in the final lists. The total number of eligible voters is 100 million while only 80 million have been listed. The Chief Election Commissioner, former justice Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim has taken serious notice of it and directed Nadra and Statistic Division to provide complete lists of adult population. With the holding of local body polls and the general elections around the corner, this is an extremely grim scenario and work on a war footing has to be done to finalize these lists well in time failing which the  electoral process could be delayed. There has been a lot of hue and cry over the fact that previous voter lists were polluted and nearly 30 million bogus voters were listed. It is needless to say that till such time that these lists are updated in every respect, elections cannot be termed free and fair.
