KARCHI - The International Labour Organisation (ILO), Government of Pakistan, Employers Federation of Pakistan and Pakistan Workers Federation will jointly sign a second phase of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the Decent Work Country Programme.

In the post 18th constitutional amendment scenario, this MOU provides a framework for ILO support to the federal and provincial governments, employers and workers in Pakistan until 2015, said an official statement of ILO released on Wednesday.

The MOU will be signed by Muhammad Ahsan Raja, Federal Secretary, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Haji Muhammad Javed, representing Employers Federation of Pakistan, Zahoor Awan, representing Pakistan Workers Federation and Francesco d’Ovidio, Country Director ILO. The provincial Secretaries of Labour from Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan and, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with their technical experts, will participate in the signing ceremony. Representative of government, employers and workers’ organisations, the donor community, UN agencies, academia, NGOs and the media are expected to attend the ceremony.

The signing ceremony will be held on Thursday (today) at ILO Office for Pakistan.

Orientation: The orientation session for the new entrants of the Evening Programme at the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology was held on Wednesday.

FUUAST Director Evening Programme Syed Tahir Ali exhorted the students to concentrate towards the acquisition of knowledge.

He said that education also helps towards the process of development. Tahir said that those nations make rapid headway that excel in the realms of education.
