KARACHI - Sindh High Court on Wednesday restrained police authorities from arresting or harassing petitioner, Tariq Mehmood Butt, for allegedly importing infected sheep from Australia.

A division bench, headed by Justice Maqbool Baqir, also issued notice to Prosecutor General, SSP Malir, SHO Shah Latif Town police station and other respondents for September 27, 2012.

Tariq Butt moved a miscellaneous application, submitting he was booked in a false case regarding import of infected sheep by Shah Latif Town police on complaint of government authorities. He stated police were harassing him and apprehended that he might be arrested. He prayed to restrain police from causing harassment to him or arresting in connection with case lodged by government authorities with malafide intentions.

After hearing arguments, SHC division bench restrained Shah Latif police from harassing or arresting petitioner. It also issued notice to PG Sindh, SSP Malir, SHO Shah Latif and other respondents to file their comments before September 27.
