LAHORE – An employee of the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) was electrocuted when he was cutting the braches of a tree at Government Officers Residence (GOR-1), rescue workers said on Wednesday.

Tahir Ali, 18, was cutting the branches of a tree outside a house in GOR-1 near Race Course Park when suddenly his iron-cutter touched the wires at the mainline. He sustained electric shock and died on the spot.

The rescuers of the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue-1122) reached the spot soon after the incident and managed to remove the body from the tree.

Eyewitnesses said the PHA employee had not adopted any preventive measures while he climbed up the tree and began working to cut the extra braches of trees in an attempt the beautify the Golf Lane.
