QUETTA - Frontier Corps arrested at least 12 suspects including ten Lyari gangsters, recovering huge cache of weapons from them in a Hub area on Thursday.

According to FC spokesman, a joint search operation was carried out by FC and police in Hub in which 12 suspects including 10 Lyari gangsters were arrested.

“Heavy cache of weapons and explosives was recovered from the suspects’ custody,” the spokesman said in a statement, adding that they recovered 4 Kalashnikovs, 1 G3 Rifle, 25 grenades, 1 sniper rifle with 2,100 rounds, 6 pistols with 200 rounds, 400 kg explosives, 4 walkie-talkie sets and 4,000 different kinds of rounds. FC also recovered a land-courser from their custody, he added.

The spokesman also confirmed the suspects attacked the Nato container convoys, destroying 22 of them. FC IG Ejaz Shahid appreciated the successful operation, saying the force is utilising all its efforts to establish peace in the province.

ATC RELEASES PPP LEADER IN EXPLOSIVE CASE: The Anti Terrorist Court released PPP leader Maqbool Lehri in a case of explosives recovered from his warehouse.

ATC Judge Tariq Anwar Kasi ordered to release Lehri on bail on furnishing surety bonds of Rs1 million. Security forces had arrested Lehri after recovering over 100,000 kg explosives from his warehouse.

After the arrest, Lehri underwent physical as well as judicial remand.

PPP Balochistan leaders had warned of protests if Lehri was not released. “Mr. Maqbool was nothing to do with explosive material rather it was a conspiracy against him to keep him out from politics,” PPP leaders had said.
