PESHAWAR - The KPK govt will establish Islamic Micro Finance Bank and Provincial Industrial Development Bank aimed to overcome unemployment and boost industrial growth in the province and Fata.

This was disclosed by Siraj-ul-Haq, Senior Minister Finance Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while talking with new acting managing director of the BoK Imran Samad. 

The minister informed him about the priorities of the provincial government. He said the government did not want to spend hard earned money of the people on realisation of failed ideas. Instead, he added, it is the time to provide better opportunities for social and economic uplift of the masses in real sense.

He said that youth would be put on right and professional track so that they could play their effective role in the overall growth. The minister mentioned about the BOK role in development of various industrial and agri-based entities especially micro finance activities. He also stressed the need to provide better opportunities to females by providing proper financial assistance to utilise their energies for the uplift of social and business sectors.

He said that in this regard BOK could play a very effective and vital role. The minister also desired that overseas Pakistanis should be encouraged to also play their role in this regard. 

He advised Imran Samad to prepare a five-year plan of the Bank for its operational growth and targets to be met during the period. The acting MD BOK invited the minister to formally inaugurate the Islamic Banking Branches at Chitral and Gilgit.

The minister also emphasized that BOK should plan its branches outside the country which will attract Pakistani expatriates. Imran Samad informed that BOK has already established its branches in every district headquarters of the province and serving the masses to the best of their abilities.

He also mentioned that BOK is providing Home Remittance Services through its branches across the country and this year this network will further increase and strengthen.
