Rawalpindi - Model Ayyan Ali yesterday recorded her statement before a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) in murder case of a customs inspector. “I have nothing to do with the murder of Customs Inspector Chaudhry Ijaz and she is innocent and is being implicated in the case without any reason,” she said.

According to details, Ayyan Ali along with her lawyer Khurram Latif Khosa turned up before member JIT Inspector Tahir Malik and submitted her written statement.

In her statement, Ayyan said that she had nothing to do with the death of Inspector Chaudhry Ijaz. She said that she was in jail when the inspector was shot dead on June 2, 2015.

She noted that it was wrong to say that the inspector was a prosecution witness against her in the case of currency smuggling. “She is being implicated in the case and the police should give her a clean chit in the case,” she wrote in her statement.

Saima Bibi, wife of Customs Inspector Chaudhry Ijaz, had accused that Ayyan Ali was involved in murder of her husband one year after assassination of customs inspector.

Earlier, Ayyan Ali appeared before Special Judge Asif Majid Awan of Anti Terrorism Court Number 2 and submitted an application stating that she wanted to get her statement recorded before the JIT investigating the murder case.

The judge, after hearing Ayyan’s lawyer regarding terrorism charges against her, summoned Inspector Tahir in the court.

The court asked the police investigator that why the police had not submitted initial investigation report of the case in the court as the terrorism charges were added on August 11.

ATC number 2 Special Judge Asif Majid Awan directed the JIT Inspector Tahir to record the statement of Ayyan Ali and submit his investigation report in the court on September 23, 2016.
